2022 Maserati Grecale Pre-Production Fleet Used To Form A Huge Trident In Italy

The Maserati Grecale has been a long time coming and in spring 2022, will be unveiled. Before that happens, however, the car manufactured has used dozens of prototypes to put on a special display at its test track and on the streets of Milan, Italy.

Maserati is currently testing more than 250 Grecale prototypes in Japan, the U.S., the United Arab Emirates, China, Finland, and Italy, and brought together 80 of them to form a huge Trident at its testing facility. Four prototypes were also pictured outside the famed Milan Cathedral.

Maserati had intended on unveiling the long-awaited Grecale on November 16 at a special event in Milan. However, the automaker confirmed in mid-October that it would have to delay the SUV’s debut due to supply chain issues that meant it was unable to complete the car’s production process in time.

While we now have to wait until spring 2022 to see the SUV, we already know quite a lot about it. Most notably, we know the Grecale will sit below the Levante in the automaker’s range and be based on the same Giorgio platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Maserati is tipped to sell the Grecale with four- and six-cylinder engines with mild-hybrid technology. A flagship Grecale Trofeo will also be offered, probably powered by the same twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 as the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio with 505 hp. An all-electric model is also expected.

Recent spy shots of prototypes have revealed that the new Grecale will take design inspiration from the new GranTurismo and the mid-engined MC20.
