Yet another electric vehicle brand has been unveiled in China, dubbed Avatr Technology. Making this new automaker special is the fact that it marks Huawei’s move into the automotive space.
The Avatr brand has been formed through a joint venture between Changan Automobile and lithium-ion battery provider CATL. The company is essentially a rebranded version of Changan Nio New Energy Automotive Technology that was a joint venture between Changan Automobiles and Nio. However, Changan increased its stake in this joint venture from 45 per cent to 95.8 per cent earlier this year, allowing it to take control of the company. Huawei’s technologies will be used in the vehicles launched through the Avatr brand.

The very first model introduced by the company is the Avatr 11, taking the shape of an electric SUV with a futuristic design.
When looking at the EV, your eyes are immediately drawn to the front end that sports very thin LEDs at the top and wedge-shape LEDs that run down the bumper. Elsewhere, the SUV has a sleek, slopping roofline and door handles that sit flush with the bodywork. The rear of the vehicle is equally as striking and includes a single LED light bar. It also has a small upright rear window and a hatch with a rather large decklid.
Technical specifications about the car are scarce, but it will allegedly hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4 seconds and can travel around 700 km (435 miles) on a charge.
