It seems that lately every single new BMW causes some kind of controversy upon its release due to its design. However, is the new M240i xDrive Coupe fun enough to drive to overcome its somewhat questionable styling?

The M240i xDrive will sit at the top of the new 2-Series Coupe range until the M2 arrives. It is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with 382 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, not much less than the original M2. Drive is sent through all four wheels courtesy of a rear-biased xDrive system and an M Sport rear differential. BMW’s official claim is that it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.1 seconds and it tops out at an electronically limited 155 mph (250 km/h).

The cars featured in these reviews are all finished in the same shade of Thundernight Metallic, a nice shade of purple that accentuates the muscular lines of the car. However, to our eyes, not even this paint scheme makes up for the odd front and rear fascias.

The interior of the new 2-Series is quite familiar to other BMW models. It features analog gauges as standard and an 8.8-inch infotainment screen but can be optioned with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display. Other key interior features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and it can also be optioned with a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.

So, what is the M240i like to drive? Well, to find out, be sure to watch the reviews.
