Just a week after the Mullen Five was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the automaker has announced that it has secured 25,000 reservations for the electric crossover.
The Five can be reserved through the Mullen website with a refundable $100 deposit. In response to the positive reception for the SUV, Mullen increased the limit for reservations from 5,000 to 25,000 units in the three days after the show. It has also revealed that the first 25,000 reservations will receive a custom ‘launch’ edition.
“I am gratified by the level of interest on the Mullen FIVE. Our LA Auto Show booth is seeing strong traffic, positive reaction and response to the FIVE,” chief executive and chairman of Mullen Automotive, David Michery said. “The FIVE is the center point of our company effort and focus.”

Mullen has kept many details about the Five under wraps but it is understood that the base model will feature a 95 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds. This variant will allegedly have a range of 325 miles (523 km) and offer fast charging capability that allows it to charge to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes.
A high-performance variant dubbed the RS is also on the cards. It will feature a number of new carbon fiber parts, including carbon ceramic brakes, and will allegedly hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds and reach and a top speed exceeding 200 mph (322 km/h), the types of figures we’d expect to see from an electric hypercar, not an electric SUV.
Prices for the Mullen Five start at $55,000 before incentives, while deliveries aren’t scheduled to begin until the second quarter of 2024.
