The 2018 Mazda6 Touring has paid a visit to the plastic surgeon and it’s now ready for its European debut at next month’s 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The visual changes applied to its exterior aren’t radical, but then again, it was expected, given that the tweaked saloon version, which was shown at the 2017 LA Auto Show, sports the same styling.
The big news however is that the 2018 Mazda6 will now adopt the SkyActiv-X powertrain. This “introduces an innovative combustion method called Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI)”, and is billed as “the world’s first commercial petrol engine to use compression ignition”.
The technology combines the benefits of diesel engines such as initial response and fuel economy, with cleaner emissions.
Elsewhere, the updated Mazda6, in both Saloon and Touring body styles, features revised seating inside, reduced noise and vibration levels, and a broader range of i-ActivSense safety features, such as the 360-degree camera system, and intelligent speed assist system.
Besides the updated Mazda6, the automaker will also bring the Vision Coupe to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The stunning looking study will be joined by another show car that comes straight from Tokyo – the Kai, which previews the next generation Mazda3.
