You may not have heard of the Terradyne Gurkha LAPV but after reading about it, you might just be rushing to your local bank pleading to get a loan to buy one.

The Gurkha is built on the chassis of a Ford F-450 Super Duty and was originally designed for law enforcement use. However, this particular example that’s currently up for auction through Collecting Cars in Ontario, Canada, was specified as a private security, or civilian, model.

The army-style bodywork of the Gurkha has a B4 armor level rating and this unit has lighter body panels than most, making it better suited to civilian use. It has also been painted in Matte Granite Grey for that tactical look.

As a means of making a statement, it’s hard to beat the Gurkha. The front end is dominated by angular lines and also sports black two hooks and simple circular headlights. The hood is also angular, and the Gurkha sports a narrow windshield and a LED light bar sitting on the roof, while it is sitting on 20-inch wheels with off-road tires. If you’re the type of person that fears a zombie apocalypse, this is exactly the vehicle you need.

The listing notes that Terradyne’s off-road package has also been fitted, adding Fox shocks, a 16,500 lb winch, front differential locks, and an on-board high-output air compressor.

Power comes courtesy of a 6.7-liter V8 pumping out 330 hp that’s coupled to an automatic transmission. Many interior components have been lifted straight out of the F-450, although the Gurkha does offer seating for six and also features a 40-gallon primary and an 80-gallon secondary fuel tank, heated front seats, heated windshield, an upgraded Alpine audio system and an intercom. This particular vehicle has been driven a touch over 25,000 km (~15,500 miles) and at the time of writing the highest bid was $165,000.
