GMC today celebrated the completion of the first 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickups. The trucks, Edition 1 models, have rolled off the line at GM’s Factory ZERO and the automaker says that customer deliveries can now begin.

“We brought this truck to market with speed and agility and brought GM another step closer to an all-electric future,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “With our Ultium Platform as the foundation for a broad range of applications, the GMC HUMMER EV offers our customers the ultimate in capability and performance.”

The massive EV is the first vehicle that GM has produced on its Ultium platform. The brand new chassis will form the basis for a number of electric vehicles across its many brands.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 starts at an MSRP of $110,295 and its drivetrain features two motors, which together pump out up to 1,000 hp. The company calls the truck its moonshot and, indeed, it is painted in Interstellar White on the outside and its interior is finished in a unique color called Lunar Horizon.

Early reviews of prototype versions of the trucks are good with YouTube’s Doug DeMuro calling it the best-riding pickup truck he’s ever spent any time in. With impressive performance, a range of fascinating features, and impressive performance, GMC looks to have produced an exciting vehicle to kick off its electric transformation.

The first model to roll off the assembly line, VIN 001 was auctioned off earlier this year at a Barrett-Jackson auction in March. The vehicle sold for $2.5 million with all proceeds going to benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which builds mortgage-free, accessible smart homes for the most catastrophically injured veterans and to the families of Gold Star families and those of first responders killed in the line of duty.

Anyone interested in buying an Edition 1 model is, unfortunately, too late since they’ve all already sold. GMC is taking reservations for other Hummer trims, though.
