If there’s one thing that separates Bentley from arch rival Rolls Royce, it’s the flying B’s racing heritage. While Bentley isn’t known for making hardcore vehicles for the street, the mighty Continental GT3-R is the automaker’s way of proving it can turn one of its grand tourers into something a little more potent; and one example just happens to be on sale.
Motor GT has one of the limited edition coupes on sale for a (relatively) affordable price. The dealer is asking $215,000, which is one heck of a good deal, as it originally cost $339,000, plus it’s limited to just 300 units worldwide. Usually, limited-edition models appreciate in value, but the Bentley has depreciated by $124,000 in just three years.
While 300 total examples of the GT3-R were made, only 99 of those found their way to the U.S., which makes this coupe incredibly rare – and it looks to be in pristine condition. The sales listing doesn’t state whether the matching Bell Racing GT3 helmet and Breitling GT3 watch are included. The latter costs $16,000 on its own, which those interested in the Continental should have no problem buying anyway.
The GT3-R is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that generates 572 horsepower and 518 pound-feet of torque. Despite being quite heavy, it can get to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 170 mph (273 km/h).
To ensure that GT3-R owners have a vehicle that won’t get mistaken for a run-of-the-mill Continental, Bentley has added a bunch of carbon-fiber bits, bespoke green decals, and an overall aggressive look that is close to the actual GT3 race car. The interior is another story, with some luxurious touches including Beluga black leather with Alcantara and a heavy dose of carbon fiber.
The GT3-R isn’t the first vehicle that comes to mind when the majority of people think about luxury grand tourers, but it’s a proper Bentley that’s made with enthusiasts in mind. We guess one wealthy individual will scoop this deal sooner rather than later.
