The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro Convertible has been lucky to survive a terrifying crash with a Chevrolet Chevette in Brazil.

The crash occurred on Christmas Day in Ribeirão das Neves, in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte. Security cameras from a nearby pizzeria captured the accident on camera and reveal just how close the Camaro driver was to being killed.

Footage shows the brown Chevette failing to stop at a T-intersection. The driver plows down the raised section of road and then goes flying, slamming a red Camaro that was traveling on the road below. The wheels of the Chevette hit the fabric top of the Camaro before the entire weight of the Chevette briefly bounces onto the cabin of the Camaro.

It is understood that the force of the impact knocked the driver of the Camaro unconscious, which explains why the car suddenly accelerates down the road.

While the video cuts off shortly after the Camaro begins to pick up speed, it is reported that the car slammed into five other vehicles on the road before finally coming to a stop. The driver of the Camaro is said to have been seriously injured in the crash but survived.

When the local authorities arrived on the scene, the driver of the Chevette admitted that he had just had two shots of cognac and was intoxicated. Which is a stark reminder that one should not get behind the wheel when they have consumed alcohol, not only for their own safety but also that of other road users.
