The Gunther Werks 993 Speedster Remastered was unveiled in August last year and while it may look like a showpiece, it is much more than that.
The car shares quite a lot in common with the 993 Remastered models that Gunther Werks has been building for the past couple of years but as its name implies, it is now a Speedster. A number of significant alterations have been made, however.
For example, the builder has stretched the car to make up for the lack of a roof and has also extended the wheelbase. It has also been equipped with an integrated roll car and roll bar system. Virtually every single body panel is now made from lightweight carbon fiber and the widebody kit really transforms the looks of the car.

After immediately jumping into the driver’s seat of the car, Matt Farah from TheSmokingTire notes that all of the controls are heavy and are very direct. While he mentions that the clutch is relatively heavy, it isn’t tiresome to operate.
Farah and his co-host are also complimentary of the suspension system that comprises of shocks with individual reservoirs. Both say it rides over the bumps you’ll find across Los Angeles roads very well.
The engine of the 993 Speedster Remastered is a key highlight. It is a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six built by Rothsport Racing and pumping out a touch over 435 hp and 335 lb-ft (454 Nm) of torque. Power is sent through the rear wheels thanks to an upgraded version of the 993’s original Getrag manual transmission.
