The striking Volcano Yellow McLaren Speedtail formerly owned by Michael Fux has sold for $3.3 million at Mecum Auctions event in Kissimmee, Florida.
McLaren built just 106 examples of the three-seat Speedtail and while every single one of them is special, Fux’s car is especially striking because of the bright Volcano Yellow bodywork. It also features black 10-spoke lightweight wheels, polished brightwork, a gloss black engine cover, and Galvanic Grey brushed accents across the exterior. As a means of making a statement, this is certainly one way to do it.

The interior of the Speedtail is just as striking as the exterior with Yellow leather ordered through McLaren Special Operations adorning the seats, side sills, headliner, and door panels. A number of other interior surfaces are clad in black leather while carbon fiber accents ensure this feels like a proper hypercar.
The car garnered a lot of attention during the auction and it only took a matter of seconds before bidding exceeded the $2 million mark. After bids sat at $2.5 million for a few seconds, more bids came in, pushing the price up to $2.75 million and ultimately to the eventual sales price of $3.3 million, just passing the reserve placed on the Speedtail.
U.S. prices for the Speedtail started at around $2.25 million but Fux likely paid a little more than that for some of the car’s unique options. Nevertheless, it seems inevitable that he walked away with a tidy profit.
