Just a few weeks after our spy photographers snapped a 2024 Ford Mustang Coupe testing through the streets of Detroit, yet another 2024 Mustang prototype has been caught up close but this one is a little different as it is a convertible.
There are a number of differences between this 2024 Mustang prototype and others that make it look like a Convertible rather than a hardtop. For example, the roof has been completely covered in think vinyl camouflage, as have the A-pillars. In addition, our spy photographers noticed that there was a break in the camouflage on the A-pillars that would separate when the roof is lowered.
A number of other aspects of this prototype catch the eye. For example, it is sporting a distinctive set of wheels that look similar to the 19-inch wheels currently offered exclusively on the High Performance Package for 2.3-liter models, and the potent Mustang Mach 1, leading to suggestions that this prototype may be a V8-powered variant of the beloved pony car.
The design of these wheels also provides us with an excellent view of the brakes, complete with large rotors and black calipers.

Other key details about the S650-generation Mustang remain a mystery at this point. For example, it is not yet even known what powertrains it will be offered with but current reports suggest the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and 5.0-liter V8 will be retained from the current model but will be hybridized. Some rumors suggest that powerful V8 models will have the rear wheels driven by the 5.0-liter while the front wheels will be driven by a pair of electric motors.
From a visual standpoint, it seems likely the S650-Mustang will look quite different from the current model, albeit updated to make it look that much more modern.
No launch date has been confirmed for the 2024 Ford Mustang but it may debut in 2023 for the 2024 model year.
