The automotive world is currently focused on the Geneva Motor Show but Nissan has just announced that it will use the New York Auto Show to introduce the redesigned Altima.

Little is known about the car but the model was previewed by the Vmotion 2.0 concept and will make its official debut on March 28.

That’s not much to go on but the Altima was recently spotted by one of our readers in San Francisco, California. The images don’t reveal much but the car will have a bolder design with an all-new front fascia that closely echoes the concept. The family sedan is also slated to have a more dynamic roofline, an extended wheelbase, and a handful of styling elements from the Maxima.

While the current model has a slightly dull and plasticity interior, the all-new Altima is slated to receive an upgraded cabin with higher quality materials and a modern design. Speaking of the latter, the car will adopt a freestanding infotainment system like the Honda Accord.

Nissan hasn’t said much about the model and it remains unclear what engines will be found under the hood. However, rumors suggest the company could offer updated versions of the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6. They currently produce 179 hp (133 kW) and 177 lb-ft (239 Nm) of torque as well as 270 hp (201 kW) and 251 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque.

Speculation has also hinted at a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a new hybrid variant but details are far and few between.

Update: Nissan has confirmed the Altima will debut on March 28th.
