The teaser campaign for the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok continues as the company has released the “first near-production sketches” of the pickup.

While a handful of them have already been shown, Volkswagen noted the exterior pictures show the “dynamic, self-assured styling” of the new Amarok.

As you can see, the truck sports a rugged front fascia with muscular intakes and a contrasting silver section that features an X-shape. The model also sports slender headlights, a single bar grille, and pronounced recovery hooks. We can also see what appears to be a winch integrated into the front bumper.

Elsewhere, the Amarok has a sculpted hood and bulging fender flares. They’re joined by doors that appear to carryover from the Ford Ranger. However, the rear end is unique as there’s an “Amarok” branded tailgate that is flanked by taillights with C-shaped brake lights. The model also sports a unique rear bumper with metallic accents as well as a central vent and dual reflectors.

Volkswagen didn’t say much about the design, but noted the truck has grown 3.9 inches (10 cm) in length as it now spans 210.6 inches (5.35 meters). Volkswagen also said the model is wider than its predecessor and has better off-road capability thanks to improved ground clearance.

While we’ve already seen the interior sketches before, Volkswagen noted the “premium character” of the cabin has been enhanced and “raises the benchmark for pickups in the global one-ton B-segment to a whole new level.” The company is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed the model will have additional second-row legroom. The teasers also suggest we can expect a digital instrument cluster, two-tone upholstery, a minimalist shifter, and a large infotainment system with a portrait orientation.

Furthermore, Volkswagen hinted the Amarok will have a “host of new features” including “numerous driver assistance systems that are new in this segment and will make daily driving much more comfortable.” The company added the truck will have a V6 TDI engine with “plenty of towing power and torque.”
