Arguably more than any other commercially available vehicle ever offered from any factory, the Ford F-150 Raptor is made for jumping dunes. Rocks, tree stumps, and maybe some small countries, too. But this one looks like it’s taken its last flying leap.
Listed for sale on damaged-car site Copart are the shattered remains of a red 2016 Raptor, being sold on a salvage title. That means that its insurers wrote it off, cut a check to its owner for the full value, and are trying to recuperate whatever they can from the leftovers.
As with most of these totaled-car auctions, we don’t know what happened to this truck, specifically. But the few details disclosed paint an ominous picture: for primary damage, it says “All Over.” Secondary: “Frame Damage.” In other words, it’s pretty messed up, and may be beyond repair.
The front end is bashed in, the fenders are gone altogether, the driver’s side mirror is hanging on by a thread, the airbags have all deployed, and the rear right side is banged up pretty bad, too. Most of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 may still be salvageable, but it looks like the radiator’s been pushed in pretty far.
Think there’s something worth saving here? It’s been listed since the first of the month – two weeks now. But as of when we’re writing these words, no one has placed the opening bid at $1,300 yet. So it could be yours for a song, relatively speaking. But with that much damage, we wouldn’t expect it to run without some major work. And even then, it’ll probably never be the same, if it ever runs again.
