The Opel Astra debuted last year but the new generation of the popular Golf rival has yet to gain an OPC variant, leaving the GS Line trim as the sportier of the bunch. However, owners of the compact hatchback looking to spice things up a bit can turn to German tuner Irmscher, who is developing a series of visual modifications, officially previewed through digital renderings.
Starting with the exterior, Irmscher’s bodykit includes a pronounced front bumper extension with a splitter, new side skirts, a larger roof spoiler, and a rear bumper extension with a diffuser. The hot hatch looks are further enhanced with the red accents all around the bodywork, Irmscher graphics on the profile, and an optional duo-tone paint treatment in line with Opel’s latest design language.

No visual modification package would be complete without a new set of wheels. Irmscher previewed three different designs including the “Cosmo Star” and “High Star” with a diameter of 19 inches, and the “Turbo Star” which is slightly smaller at 18 inches. All rims are available in black and shod in 225/45 tires.
As it is evident from the renderings, the suspension is lowered by 30 mm (1.2 inches), bringing the Astra closer to the ground in combination with the bodykit add-ons. Irmscher also upgraded the interior with things like stainless-steel door sills, velour carpets, and a selection of leather upholstery options for the seats. Irmscher didn’t announce pricing for the parts but said the upgrades will be available soon.
The tuner adds that the modifications are compatible with all powertrain variants of the Opel Astra, but didn’t mention any power upgrades. The Opel Astra is offered in 1.2 Puretech petrol, 1.5 BlueHDi diesel, or HYBRID-e plug-in hybrid variants. Power outputs are ranging from 108 hp (81 kW / 110 PS) to 222 hp (165 kW / 225 PS). We guess that the same applies for the already confirmed fully-electric Astra-e coming in 2023, and to some extent for the longer and more practical Sports Tourer bodystyle.
