Gran Turismo is more than just a game as automakers create concepts specifically for the series.
The latest is the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, which follows the 2019 Vision Gran Turismo Coupe and 2020 Vision Gran Turismo SV.
Available in Gran Turismo 7, the Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is a single-seat electric race car that draws inspiration from past Gran Turismo models as well as the iconic D-Type. The Vision Gran Turismo lineage is clearly evident as the Roadster features a carbon fiber composite and aluminum alloy body that closely echoes the Coupe and SV. However, the Roadster features unique roundel lights in the grille as well as hand-crafted leather straps on the front fenders.

They’re joined by a fin that recalls the Le Mans-winning D-Type, but it’s thoroughly modern and has been “aerodynamically-optimized using the latest computational fluid dynamics tools to be deployable at speed for enhanced stability with minimal drag.” Speaking of the fin, it features Union Jack etching as well as subtle LED illumination.
The electric racer features a tri-motor all-wheel drive system that develops 1,006 hp (750 kW / 1,020 PS) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque. This enables the Roadster to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than two seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 200 mph (322 km/h).
Jaguar went on to say the model features a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery and a near 50:50 weight distribution. This helps to give the digital racer “outstanding ride, handling and agility.”
According to exterior designer Oliver Cattell-Ford, “As a car designer, being part of the team that has delivered three virtual cars for the Gran Turismo series has been a dream project. Since the reveal of the Vision GT Coupe in 2019 and Vision GT SV in 2020, we wanted to curate the perfect way to present the full line-up of the three cars together when we revealed the Roadster – Gran Turismo 7 is the perfect way to do it.”
