Hear The 2019 Hyundai Veloster N Crackle To Life

Hyundai recently unveiled the 2019 Veloster N at the North American International Auto Show and now we’re getting an idea of how the model will sound when it goes on sale in the United States later this year.

While the video features a pre-production model, there’s no mistaking the fact that the car sounds incredibly sporty and nothing like the Elantras and Accents we have become accustomed too.

A big reason for the impressive symphony is the car’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces up to 275 hp (205 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. It is paired to a short-throw six-speed manual transmission with a downshift rev-matching function.

The modifications extend far beyond the engine bay as the high-performance model is distinguished by a unique front fascia with larger air intakes and an exclusive grille. Designers also installed sportier side skirts, a larger rear spoiler and a unique rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Other highlights include 18-inch wheels and an active sports exhaust system which allows for crackles in N mode.

Sticking with the styling theme, the cabin has exclusive sport seats and a unique steering wheel. Other N-specific touches include a revised instrument cluster, a new shifter and N-branded door sill plates.

On the performance front, engineers installed a sport-tuned suspension and a high-performance braking system. The model also comes standard with Michelin Pilot SuperSport summer tires and can be equipped with an optional limited-slip differential.
