Genesis announced the opening of its first standalone retail location in the United States in the city of Lafayette, Louisiana. The separation of Genesis from Hyundai in terms of showrooms will continue resulting in a wider dealership network that is planned for the near future.
Since 2018, existing Hyundai dealers have been offered the opportunity to establish separate Genesis franchises but four years later, Genesis of Lafayette is the first of its kind in the U.S. Mind you, the first dedicated showroom of Genesis in the world opened back in 2018 in Seoul, Korea.
The facilities in Louisiana include a transparent showroom, an indoor vehicle delivery area, a “private brand cube” for reviewing material samples and configurations, and EV chargers for the electrified models of the Korean brand. After all, Genesis has pledged to become an EV-only brand from 2025, with the goal of unveiling six new electric models by 2030.

Besides visiting the dealership in order to check out the inventory, prospective customers can book a test drive online with the vehicle arriving at their door. In the same context, Genesis buyers can arrange home delivery of their new car, something that is already offered as an option in other markets like Australia. Those services are part of the “Genesis Concierge” at-home shopping service that was introduced in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The interior design of the showroom is in line with the automaker’s premium design language, giving us an idea of the wider dealership network that is under development. Genesis revealed that six more locations in the United States are currently under construction, while an additional twenty dealerships are still in the early planning stages.
