Acura is responding to the rising demand for used vehicles with a new program called Acura Precision Used. The service makes the brand the first premium automaker to offer certified pre-owned vehicles that are up to 10 years old.
Acura Precision Used is being billed as an opportunity for young, first-time buyers to get into the premium market. The service will offer customer benefits and an Acura-backed limited warranty to help give them peace of mind with older vehicles.
“Higher new vehicle prices make Acura Precision Used and Acura Precision Certified vehicles an even more critical gateway to luxury vehicle ownership for younger customers,” said Dan Rodriguez, Manager of Auto Remarketing at American Honda. “We are building on the success of the award-winning Acura CPO program as well as the incredible client service and product knowledge of our Acura dealers.”

Specifically, Acura is offering customers a six-month/7,500-mile (12,070 km) limited warranty, complimentary oil change, up to 12-months or 12,000 miles (12,312 km) of emergency roadside assistance, trip-interruption expense reimbursement, and concierge services. The vehicles also come with a seven-day, 300-mile exchange policy to ensure that customers are getting exactly the car they want.
All vehicles sold through the program receive thorough background and quality checks. Acura technicians conduct a 112-point inspection of the vehicle and address any maintenance issues on the older vehicles before selling them.
The new program is an important one as high vehicle prices and long wait times have pushed many buyers into the used market. Last year, though, the prices of some off-lease vehicles were higher on the used market than they were when the vehicles were brand new. That has helped brands like Acura achieve record CPO sales but is also putting further pressure on consumers.
With this new program, the Acura Precision Certified program will handle vehicles up to six years old while “Acura Precision Used” will handle vehicles up to 10 years old.
