Italdesign Zerouno Targa Rumored To Cost $2.4 Million

Italdesign is expected to reveal a convertible version of the exclusive Zerouno supercar at the Geneva Motor Show next month. That much we already knew. What we didn’t know was how much it would cost, but now we have that piece of the puzzle in place, too.

According to a report from Autonews Europe, the Italian carrozzeria will charge €1.9 million – or about $2.4 million – for each example.

The design house revealed the Zerouno coupe at the Geneva show last year. It’s based on the same architecture as the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan, and comes powered by the same 5.2-liter V10 – producing 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque in this application.

What separates the Zerouno from the R8 and Huracan is its custom bodywork – as well as its price and exclusivity. Italdesign has sold out all five examples of the Zerouno coupe it will build, delivered the first two, and is in the process of completing the remaining three.

The reported price on the roadster places it some $500,000 over the cost of the coupe. We don’t know how many examples of the open-top version the coachbuilder will build, but we won’t be surprised to see it come in higher than the coupe.

The reveal will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Italdesign. The company was founded by famed designer Giorgetto Giugiaro in 1968 as Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A, and was acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 2010 through its subsidiary brands Audi and Lamborghini.

The automaker bought out the remaining shares in Italdesign in 2015, whereupon Giorgetto and his son Fabrizio left the company and struck out on their own once again. Under VW’s auspices, the design house launched Italdesign Automobili Speciali – the operation responsible for producing the Zerouno – a year ago.
