The idea behind the original Audi A7 Sportback was quite a simple one: take what would otherwise be a regular premium four-door saloon and make it both sportier and more practical without actually turning it into an estate.
Mercedes was at if first, creating the four-door saloon niche with the first-gen CLS. Audi implemented this idea on the smaller A5, and when that caught on, they moved ahead with bringing the 2009 Sportback Concept from NAIAS to life. While the design was somewhat polarizing, sales numbers turned out to be strong.
The all-new A7 Sportback should pick up just where the previous car left off, while also immersing the user in a much more modern package both inside and out.
According to all these different reviewers, the new-gen A7 is a sight to behold in person, especially in S line trim. Of course, while we can always debate whether or not the exterior design is a home run, the interior of this car is without a doubt very impressive, at least as far as technology (and, we guess, overall quality) are concerned.
On the road, the 55 TFSI version tested here performed really well. In fact, it was deemed more fun to drive than other big Audis by Autogefühl, although you might enjoy its long-distance cruiser characteristics more than its dynamic ones, according to Auto Trader.
In a straight line, the A7 55 TFSI will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.3 seconds thanks to its 340 PS and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. These numbers should make most buyers quite happy – so, let’s see what else Audi’s latest four-door coupe has in store for us.
