A trio of leaked images are, allegedly, showing us the new Ferrari 488 Pista, a more hardcore version of the 488 GTB.

Shared by FerrariChat, the images are supposed to reveal the successor of the 458 Speciale, which is named the Pista (Italian for track) instead of the rumored GTO.

The 488 Pista features a new body kit developed in the wind tunnel that will improve the supercar’s aerodynamics thanks to changes such as the large front splitter and prominent rear diffuser, among others.

If we’re indeed looking at the real deal, then expect lots of carbon fiber parts that should help it shed some weight over the regular 488.

Lots of Alcantara along with even more carbon fiber trim, a tachometer with a redline around 8,000rpm and sportier seats are among the changes in the cabin.

Powering the 488 Pista will be a tuned version of the 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 that should be around 10 percent lighter than the unit used in the 488 GTB and put out at least 700 horsepower and more than 760Nm (561lb-ft) of torque.

Developed as a challenger to the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, McLaren 720S and Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the new 488 Pista, whose name remains unconfirmed, will most likely make its debut at the upcoming Geneva show, on March 6.
