Few cars get enthusiasts more excited than the BMW E30 M3 and the crew over at Galpin Auto Sports recently completed a refurbishment on one.

The story of the M3 dates back to the mid-1980s when BMW needed to make a road-legal homologation special for it to compete in the DTM and Group A Touring championships. The E30 M3 set the framework for all future BMW M models and is now extremely sought after.

Galpin Auto Sports says that this particular E30 M3 is a 1990 model and that it came into the shop to get some of the bodywork repaired and for it to be completely resprayed. Limited other details about this particular example have been provided by GAS but it is certainly quite the head-turner.

The exterior of the sedan is bathed in a deep shade of black and the car continues to ride on the original silver wheels. The cabin of the M3 also makes a bold statement thanks to tan-colored leather across the front seats, rear seats, and door panels.

Standard E30 M3 models left the factory with a 2.3-liter naturally aspirated inline-four that was good for 192 hp in the U.S. and up to 197 hp in other markets. That may not sound like much by today’s standards but it was more than enough back in the day. This engine also worked seamlessly alongside a beautifully set-up chassis that made the E30 M3 one of the finest-ever driver’s cars.

BMW has introduced five new generations of the M3 since the launch of the original. These started off with the E36 M3 built between 1992 and 1999 and followed up by the beloved E46, the E92, the F80, and the current G80. Performance from the M3 has soared over the years but the original still remains something very special.
