For fans of Indycar, owning a pace car is one of the ultimate pieces of memorabilia. And for Indycar fans with deep pockets, a collection of 18 Indy 500 Corvette pace cars is going up for sale at Mecum‘s Indianapolis auction in May, but it’ll cost you a pretty penny.

The collection includes at least one Corvette from every generation since the C3, and it’s expected to sell for anywhere between $1.5 and $1.7 million, which would give each Corvette an average price of $83k to $94k. Granted, some of the cars might be worth more or less, but that’s still a decent amount of money.

With that being said, it’s worth noting that only three of the cars in the lot are real pace cars that were actually used in the Indy 500. The first one is a 2004 Corvette Pace Car used as a parade car for the 2004 Indy 500. The second one is a 2005 Corvette Pace Car with just 5,450 miles (8,770 km) on it that was one of just 8 official pace cars for that year. The third one is a 2006 Corvette Z06 Pace Car with an even lower 3,187 miles (5,125 km), and it’s even rarer at one of only 6 official pace cars for that year. Needless to say, of the 18 cars in the collection, these three are the most likely to be worth more than that roughly $90k average price.

In addition to the actual pace cars, the collection also includes a handful of pace car replicas: one from each year since 2013 with the exception of 2019 and 2021. Three in particular, the 2013 Corvette ZR1 Pace Car Replica, 2014 Corvette Pace Car Replica, and 2022 Corvette Pace Car Replica, all have fewer than 100 miles on the odometer, making them virtually brand new.

The other 7 cars of the collection are “Pace Car Editions”, which were special packages offered by Chevrolet for normal roadgoing Corvettes to commemorate their actual Indy 500 pace car of the time, but many of them still have next to no mileage to earn their value.
