Isuzu announced that the highly modified and capable D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 model will start at £47,999 (US$59,969 at current exchange rates) for the manual version in the UK. That’s a little over £15,650 (US$19,552) more than the Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross on which it is based.
First unveiled at the 2021 Commercial Vehicle Show, the D-Max has been thoroughly modified by Arctic Trucks, which enhanced the body, frame, drivetrain, suspension, wheels, and tires, hence the price.
The AT35 portion of the name comes from the truck’s standard 35-inch all-terrain tires, which are wrapped around 17-inch alloy wheels. The suspension system is also modified to feature Bilstein front springs and dampers, rear dampers, and an additional body lift. Together, they combine to raise the truck by more than 50 mm (2 inches) over the standard D-Max.

That helps increase the ground clearance to 266 mm (10 inches) at the front and 290 mm (11 inches) at the rear. Its approach angle is similarly impressive at 35° while its departure angle of 29° and a break-over angle of 34° should equip owners well to deal with any off-road situation.
To accommodate all that capability and all that tire, the body gets extra-wide color-coded wheel arch extensions that create additional clearance and help make the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 look even taller. In order to make that extra height less inconvenient, it also gets extended-profile side steps, as well as strengthened mud flaps and a versatile two-inch rear multifunction receiver.
The D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 is based on the V-Cross model, which means that it gets gunmetal grey exterior styling elements, premium black interior headlining, a nine-inch infotainment screen, and an eight-speaker sound system. The leather interior, though, features Arctic Truck branding that is incorporated into the headrests. In addition, owners also get dedicated locking wheel nuts and an Arctic Trucks torque wrench.
“We are so pleased to launch the Isuzu D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35, having first unveiled the concept at the CV Show last year,” said William Brown, Managing Director, Isuzu UK. “This new halo model for the Isuzu range really demonstrates how adaptable and versatile the D-Max platform is, and with the AT35 we showcase how inspiring and extreme the vehicle can be, whilst importantly retaining the full commercial vehicle status, with no compromise to payload or towing capacity.”
The Isuzu D-Max comes with just one engine option in the U.K., a turbodiesel that makes 162 hp (164 PS/121 kW) and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. It’s coupled to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.
Order books open on May 3 with prices starting at £49,499 (US$62,778) for the version with the automatic transmission.
