An intersection in Seattle, Washington is gaining a lot of attention online for its expediency in roughing up vehicles and spitting them out.

Security camera footage from above captures the vehicles as they exit the tunnel, and at first glance, it’s not immediately clear why the vehicles are bouncing off the walls, or why they’re traveling so quickly.

The post was shared on Reddit, where it currently has over 97.5k upvotes and 7.2k comments.

The tunnel is available to view on Google Maps and is located on Union street at the end of an offramp connected to Highway I-5. One look at the street view is all it takes to realize why so many people are exiting the intersection with more broken parts than they entered with.

The exit from the highway is an extremely tight turn, and vehicles are supposed to slow down to 20 miles per hour (32 km/h) in order to make it safely around. Clearly, safe driving is a practice that many drivers aren’t willing to heed.

It’s not like the curve isn’t marked, either. Signs are placed outside the tunnel denoting the speed limit and the exit, so drivers really have no excuse not to slow down – but many of them simply don’t.

Even the vehicles that do make it around the curve aren’t safe, as there is a traffic light almost immediately following it. If a driver happens to catch a red light, they could be the victim of being rear-ended by someone who’s simply driving too fast.

The intersection has obviously been a problem area for quite some time, otherwise there wouldn’t be a dedicated camera set up to record the carnage. It isn’t clear if the city plans on doing anything to curb the accidents, and commenters on the Reddit post have also expressed their opinion about the entirety of the I-5 highway being basically a deathtrap.

Go on then, how many people crashing did you count?
