Mercedes is entering the 2018 model year with an assortment of changes and additions to its lineup in the United States.
Starting with the brand’s flagship, the 2018 S-Class features revised styling, updated technology, and a handful of new engine options.
The S450 and S450 4MATIC are powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine which produces 362 hp (270 kW), while the S560 and S560 4MATIC have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 cranking out 463 hp (345 kW).
Buyers looking for something more powerful can check out the updated Mercedes-AMG S63 which features a new turbo-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 603 hp (450 kW). Thanks to the extra power and a new nine-speed automatic gearbox, the model accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds.
The 2018 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are also new and come with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 developing 329 hp (245 kW) and 354 lb-ft (479 Nm) of torque. The engines are connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.
Speaking of the E-Class, the sedan receives a new E400 variant with the aforementioned engine. Customers can also order the new Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon which has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 603 hp (450 kW) and 627 lb- ft (849 Nm) of toque. Designed to haul more than just groceries, the model rockets from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds before topping out at 180 mph (290 km/h).
Moving on, the Mercedes-AMG GT lineup expands thanks to the addition of the GT Roadster, GT C Coupe, GTC Roadster, and GT R Coupe. The latter model is the cream of the crop as it features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 cranking out 577 hp (430 kW).
On the crossover side, the facelifted GLA features revised styling and additional standard equipment. The GLA250 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 208 hp (155 kW), while the GLA45 boasts a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 375 hp (280 kW).
On the topic of performance crossovers, there are three new editions for 2018 including the GLC63, GLC63 Coupe, and GLC63 S Coupe. The GLC63 variants have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 469 hp (350 kW) and 479 lb-ft (648 Nm) of torque which enables them to accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 3.9 seconds.
The GLC63 S Coupe goes one step further as it produces 503 hp (375 kW) and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque. This reduces the 0-60 mph time to just 3.7 seconds.
