It’s been a long time since the Chevrolet Bel Air left production but enthusiasts are still breathing new life into the platform. This stunning blue restomod conceals a totally updated set of components and they culminate in a 640-horsepower supercharged V8. And now it can be yours for a cool $350,000.
The LT4 V8 under the hood of this Bel Air is undeniably important as it offers modern gusto but it’s the other details that make this build so special. An 8L90 automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels and RideTech air ride suspension smooths out the bumps.
The driveline and suspension sit atop a bespoke Custom Scott’s Hot Rods chassis and the whole thing is brought to a stop with big six-piston Wilwood brake calipers affixed to slotted and drilled rotors. Custom 20-inch wheels encapsulate those brakes and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires finish off the package. Those rear tires are 345 mm wide too so putting the power down won’t be a problem.

It’s the small touches though that might be most impressive with regard to this classic American coupe. Externally, die-hard Bel-Air fans will note the little nips and tucks that the body has undergone to come away with a sharper sleeker appearance. Inside the cabin, it’s just as detailed.
Period-correct Dakota Digital gauges sit ahead of the driver and the transmission is controlled through a Lokar shifter. A Vintage Air system looks almost factory but provides modern climate control. A Rockford Fosgate sound system with a 400-watt 4-channel AMP is also included so that the buyer can enjoy modern sound quality.
Even the exhaust tips get their own special treatment. They’ve been constructed in an oval shape to help avoid scratches, scrapes, and other damage that could occur as a result of the lower ride height. This isn’t the first time that Retro Designs has worked with a Bel Air and its experience is showing here.
The last Bel Air it unveiled made a gigantic splash at SEMA with an original unrestored exterior and a totally revamped driveline and interior. That wild restomod might not be available but this new one is for anyone who has $350,000 laying around.
