As the development of the new generation Amarok continues, Volkswagen released more revealing teasers for the pickup. The latest is a short video focusing on the optional matrix LED headlights of the Amarok, which will benefit from the company’s IQ.Light technology.

VW refers to the new Amarok as a “premium pickup”, a term that has to be justified with design and equipment. In this context, all trim levels of the Amarok will come standard with LED headlights, but the more expensive trims will take it further with the IQ.Light matrix LED tech as with the rest of VW’s range.

The teaser reveals the headlight graphics of the Amarok, exaggerated through computer-generated visuals to show the countless LEDs inside them. Other features include the auto-dimming high beam which adjusts to oncoming traffic, street lighting, or traffic lights, the cornering lights, and of course the DRLs surrounding the clusters.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles promises the Amarok will introduce more tech features to the LCV segment. It has previously confirmed more than 30 ADAS, 10-way electrically adjustable seats, a digital instrument cluster, an exclusive sound system, and leather-look surfaces with decorative stitching. We suspect that most of those features will be shared with the mechanically-related Ford Ranger.

Besides teasing the design, VW has officially confirmed that the engine range will include one petrol and up to four diesel options with a capacity between 2.0-liters and 3.0-liters and four or six cylinders. They will be combined with RWD, on-demand AWD, or permanent AWD layouts.

The lineup will comprise the entry-level Amarok, the mid-range Life, and Style, plus two flagship trims – the off-road-focused PanAmericana and the road-focused Aventura. We also know that the new Amarok will measure 5,350 mm (210.6 inches) long, offered in four-door dual-cab or two-door single-cab bodystyles depending on the market.

We will learn more about the new generation of the VW Amarok as we move closer to its official debut scheduled for the end of 2022.
