Buick has teased the Electra-X concept, ahead of its debut in China early next month.
Designed to preview upcoming production models, the Electra-X “takes Buick’s innovative thinking and imagination of future electric mobility to the next level.”
The company is keeping details under wraps, but it’s clear this isn’t your grandfather’s Buick. Instead of the traditional waterfall grille, the concept features a sporty front fascia that loosely recalls the one found on the Ferrari Roma.

As you can see, the Electra-X has a protruding nose which resides above a fully enclosed grille with a geometric pattern. It’s joined by a flowing front bumper, a sculpted hood, and slender headlights with swoosh-style accents.
The overhead picture reveals a few more details including digital side mirrors and a distinctive A-pillar with black stripes at the base. This is a bold look for the brand and Buick said the concept has “distinct and forward-looking styling, along with an airy interior.”
Interestingly, the Electra-X looks different than the unnamed Buick EV concept that was teased in February. That model is slated to be introduced this summer with different headlights that have a boomerang-like shape.
Getting back to the Chinese concept, Buick confirmed the model will ride on the Ultium platform and feature Super Cruise as well as a “Virtual Cockpit System.” The brand went on to say the concept is “designed to provide a safer, smarter and more desirable EV experience, building on Buick’s deep understanding and insights of local consumers toward electrification and intelligent driving.”
While a number of questions remain, Buick introduced an Electra concept in Shanghai two years ago. It was an electric crossover coupe that featured butterfly wing doors as well as a dual motor all-wheel drive system pumping out 583 hp (435 kW / 591 PS). This enabled the concept to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds.
