The Radford Type 62-2 will make its dynamic debut at this month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with development and testing of the car now complete.
Ex-Formula 1 driver and 2009 world champion Jenson Button led the testing schedule of the car, much of which was conducted at Lotus’ test track at its Hethel headquarters in the UK.
“Goodwood Festival of Speed is a fantastic event, and I am looking forward to showcasing the driving capabilities and performance of our updated and refined Type 62-2 on the iconic hillclimb,” Button told Auto Express. “This is an exciting opportunity for both motoring and motorsport fans, and I can’t wait to reveal all of the engineering changes we have made to the car as they come from F1-inspired pedigree.”

The Type 62-2 is based on a Lotus-sourced aluminum chassis and sports four-way adjustable dampers. Three variants are available to customers, starting with the ‘Classic’ that produces 430 hp from its Toyota 3.5-liter supercharged V6 and is upgraded to 500 hp for the ‘Gold Leaf’ while topping out at 600 hp in the flagship ‘John Player Special.’ This version can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).
A number of other upgrades differentiate the John Player Special from the two other variants. For example, it comes standard with 360 mm carbon ceramic brake discs and AP Monobloc calipers. It is also fitted with Dymag carbon composite wheels measuring 18-inches at the front and 19-inches at the rear that are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Just 62 examples of the Radford Type 62-2 are bound for the production line and customers will be offered a wide array of ways to personalize their vehicles.
