A new report says that the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is completely sold out and as a result the brand is opening up preorders for the 2024 model year today. The flashy electric vehicle is making a big splash for Cadillac so far and that includes drawing new customers from other brands. Those on the wait list for the 2023 Lyriq have a few more answers about that process in the report as well.
According to Automotive News, anybody can get on the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq preorder list for just $100 as of noon Eastern standard time on Wednesday, June 22. Full orders are expected to open for configuration later this year in the fall or early winter. The news comes on the heels of the 2023 Lyriq being completely sold out though we don’t know exactly how many units that entails.
Deliveries of the all-electric SUV are expected to begin next week and Cadillac has publicly stated that over 20,000 individuals have shown serious interest. Buyers who missed out on the 2023 build allotment but were put on waiting lists might still end up with one based on availability. Should Cadillac run out of units, those customers will have the chance to move to the 2024 preorder list.

From all accounts, it seems that the Lyriq could be a gamechanger. “The amount of people on our [2023 Cadillac Lyriq] waitlist far exceeded our expectations,” Kristin Lewis, Lyriq marketing manager, said. One potential Lyriq customer told Carscoops “I’ve been obsessed with that car for over a year now.” That’s exactly the kind of energy Cadillac has been hoping for and apparently getting.
The same report says that some 78 percent of Lyriq buyers are new to Cadillac. If accurate, that figure would be a gigantic win for a brand that’s struggled to maintain its place among other luxury rivals. In addition, it says that two-thirds of Lyric customers are Gen X or Y. Again, if true, that could totally change the landscape for Cadillac since it’s often viewed as an older person’s brand.
While we have no official pricing on the 2024 model, Lewis did confirm that some pricing would be a little higher and some would be a little lower depending on trims and options. If you’re looking for a Lyriq, today’s the day to get in near the top of the 2024 list.
