The Maserati MC20 represents an exciting new era for the Italian car manufacturer and also gives the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren, an exciting new competitor to worry about.
Powering the MC20 is not some engine that Maserati has borrowed from the Ferrari stables and instead one that it developed in-house. It takes the form of a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 dubbed the ‘Nettuno’ and pumps out an impressive 621 hp and 538 lb-ft (729 Nm) of torque. Working alongside this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power through the rear wheels.

The guys over at the AutoTopNL YouTube channel recently had the chance to put the MC20 through its paces on the Autobahn and as you would imagine, it is quite the animal.
During its initial performance tests, a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.78 seconds was recorded. That’s quick, although it is a long way off Maserati’s claimed time of 2.9 seconds, likely due to all the wheel spin the car experienced off the line.
The MC20 continues to pull well as the speeds start to build, needing just 7.06 seconds to run from 100 km/h to 200 km/h (62 – 124 mph) and running the quarter-mile in 11.23 seconds. It was also able to hit 250 km/h (155 mph) in 18.14 seconds and was taken through to a GPS-verified top speed of 304 km/h (188.89 mph) or 313 km/h (194.4 mph) as indicated on the Maserati’s digital speedometer.
