After the Ocean One special edition sold out globally last month, Fisker has announced the 2023 allotment of Ocean Sport and Ocean Ultra models has been spoken for in the United States.

The news comes ahead of the start of production on November 17th, and Fisker noted the Ocean Sport started at $37,499 while the Ocean Ultra began at $49,999. The Ocean One, on the other hand, retailed for $68,999 and 5,000 customers placed a $5,000 deposit to secure their reservation in just 30 days.

Customers who haven’t ordered yet aren’t entirely out of luck as Fisker will begin taking orders for the Ocean Extreme in select markets on November 18th. Furthermore, in overseas markets, Fisker will begin taking orders for the Sport and Ultra trims in the first quarter of 2023. That being said, the company noted Ocean reservations remain open for all markets.

Interestingly, Fisker is being proactive in regards to the recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States Senate. Since the bill is expected to become law shortly, the company is offering reservation holders the opportunity to enter into a “binding contract to purchase” that turns their deposits into a non-refundable order. As the company explained, they believe this will enable customers to “retain eligibility for a $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs that becomes unavailable if the IRA is signed into law.”

CEO Henrik Fisker added, “We moved quickly to preserve the opportunity of our qualifying US reservation holders to remain eligible for the current federal tax credit. We’re very happy that, in addition to global Fisker Ocean One customers securing their vehicles, those reservation holders in the US who wanted a Fisker Ocean could lock in their purchase commitment.”

Longer term, the company is exploring US-based production with the “goal of making some models eligible for the EV tax credit within the new proposed requirements.” This is interesting as Fisker has already announced the upcoming Pear will be built at Foxconn’s plant in Ohio.

In the meantime, Fisker is talking with Magna and exploring the possibility of increasing Ocean production in the second half of 2023 with the goal of building more Ocean Sport and Ultra trims for the U.S. market.
