Ford has just lifted the veil on an intriguing version of the Mustang Mach-E in the Chinese market, dubbed the Twister Special Edition.
The vehicle pays tribute to the Ford Mustang Mach 1 Twister that was introduced in 1970 and was limited to just 96 examples. While availability details about the new Mustang Mach-E Twister Special Edition remain uncertain, it has certainly made quite the statement at Ford’s booth at the Chengdu Auto Show.
Immediately making the electric SUV stand out is the bright orange paint scheme that’s not dissimilar to the orange that adorned the original Mustang Mach 1 Twister. Ford’s Chinese division has made some further alterations to the Mustang Mach-E, including the installation of a matte grey graphic that stretches along the hood.

Furthermore, the electric crossover has been equipped with black ‘Twister Special’ graphics on the rear quarter panels and also features black Mustang and Mach-E badging on the rear.
Ford opened the order books for the Mustang Mach-E in China in April last year while sales kicked off last October. Prices vary from as little as 265,000 Yuan ($38,376 at current exchange rates) for the entry-level model and top out at 369,900 Yuan ($53,567) for the Mustang Mach-E GT.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been in the headlines in the U.S. over the past week, not because of the launch of a new variant but because of changes to its pricing. With the launch of the 2023 model, Ford has jacked up the prices by as much as $8,300, a difference felt by customers looking to pick up the keys to the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1.
However, even those in the market for a more affordable model will need to cough up some additional funds. Prices for the entry-level Mustang Mach-E now start at $46,895, a significant $3,000 gain over the 2022 model.
