Mullen has released new details about the range-topping Five RS.

Originally announced last November, the model is being billed as an “ultra-high performance EV” that will have an 800-volt architecture, all-wheel drive, and a claimed output in excess of 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS). The company says this will enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds and hit a top speed of at least 200 mph (322 km/h).

While that sounds rather promising, the company’s forward-looking statement noted there are “risks and uncertainties” that include the “timing of completion and availability of the Mullen Five RS and whether the Mullen Five RS will be able to reach a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h), have acceleration capabilities of 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds or have the other features contemplated by this press release.” That suggests those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt and we’ll believe it when we see it.

Putting that aside, Mullen released a new teaser sketch and it shows the crossover will have an aggressive front fascia, a carbon fiber splitter, and vents above the front wheels. They’re joined by carbon fiber fender flares, bronze wheels, and a prominent rear spoiler. The company has also said the model will have carbon ceramic brakes.

Mullen CEO David Michery said the crossover is “intended to be one of the fastest vehicles on the planet, competing with some of the best and most well-known and regarded automotive marquees.” He added, “I look forward to showcasing this vehicle on the track this next spring.”
