It’s no secret that the Ford Maverick is a conquest king, but the automaker has revealed other surprising statistics as part of their September sales report.

In particular, Ford said more than 80% of Maverick customers are first-time truck buyers. That’s an impressive number and the automaker noted conquest customers are coming from the Honda CR-V and Civic as well as the Toyota RAV4.

The Honda defectors are interesting to note as the company offers a unibody pickup in the form of the Ridgeline. However, it’s certainly no Maverick competitor as it starts at $38,800 and that’s more expensive than some traditional full-size pickups.

Getting back to the Maverick, it remains a hot commodity as the truck only lasts six days on dealer lots. The company sold 3,154 units last month and that brings their year-to-date sales up to 51,802 units.

Speaking of sales, the F-Series continues to be America’s best-selling truck as the company has sold 467,307 units year-to-date. That’s down 12.6% from this time last year and GM recently noted in their third quarter sales release that they’ve sold more “full-size pickups than Ford in 2020 and 2021, and is on track to do so again in 2022,” thanks to the combined strength of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.

Putting trucks aside, Ford sold 10,892 Broncos last month and 99% of them were ordered in advance. While that isn’t too surprising given the model’s popularity, Ford noted that for the sixth straight month, more than 50 percent of retail sales came from previously placed orders.
