Automotive enthusiasts, on the whole, spend a lot of time complaining about how much we dislike touchscreens and how much modern tech annoys us. But, as the driver of a newish car, I can say that there are some tech features that I wouldn’t want to live without.

Personally, the tech feature I use the most in my everyday life is Bluetooth connectivity. Whether it’s for listening to music, to podcasts, or simply getting turn-by-turn instructions over the speakers, it’s the feature that I would most miss if it were gone.
I do wonder, however, if that can still be considered a truly modern feature, and it’s hardly the only one that I use (or that I wish my six-year-old car had). There are certainly more impressive features out there that could make life a whole lot easier.
Automakers, for instance, have put a lot of work into making their voice-assistant technology better. Toyota recently announced improvements and, in theory, a voice assistant sounds really helpful. Freed from the need to look down or scroll through menus, just being able to speak your commands aloud sounds pretty handy.
With more infotainment systems offering complex features, like streaming platforms and video games to make electric vehicles easier to live with, some drivers may think that those are the most welcome and appreciated tech features in their vehicle.
Similarly, people seem to love their advanced driver assistance systems. While they’re often misused and misunderstood, that’s never prevented people from loving a feature before.
With so many features coming out that it’s hard to keep track of, though, there must surely be well-loved tech that we haven’t mentioned here. Let us know what your favorite is in the comments below.
