This story has been updated with more shots of the camouflaged prototype doing hot laps at the Nürburgring with Porsche’s professional race driver Lars Kern behind the wheel.
The Porsche Taycan has been around since 2019, with the Turbo S being the performance flagship of the range. However, this could change in the near future, as our spy photographers caught a camouflaged prototype with a more prominent aero, possibly hinting at a hotter variant of the electric sedan.
The Taycan prototype was spotted outside the Nürburgring in the early morning hours. Despite the camouflage, we can see some extra components sticking out of the bodywork. Among those, there is a more prominent front splitter with side fin extensions, sharper-looking side sills, a redesigned rear diffuser, and a fixed rear wing mounted on an integrated spoiler.

Taycan’s new body kit is not as extreme as in the 911 GT3 RS, but it will definitely help produce extra pounds of downforce. After all, the standard car already has a very low center of balance due to the floor-mounted battery, keeping it planted on the road.
Another highlight is the new set of duo-tone alloy wheels that looks like something it could come from a tuner, with hollow spokes presumably cutting down the unsprung weight. Later on, the prototype wore a different set of gold-ish five-spoke wheels for a hot lap in the Green Hell. The massive brake discs of the EV stand out even more thanks to the yellow-painted brake calipers. Finally, we can see a roll cage inside the cabin for safety.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S currently produces up to 750 hp (560 kW / 761 PS) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque. This kind of power is more than enough for any four-door model so we don’t know if Porsche will feel the need for a power boost. What is certain is that a GT variant would feature a track-focused chassis setup alongside a series of weight-saving measures, benefiting both handling and performance.
We don’t know if this prototype will evolve into a production model but they say that where there is smoke there is fire, so we keep our fingers crossed for a hardcore track-focused Porsche Taycan. If Zuffenhausen is indeed working on a new performance flagship of the Taycan, we wouldn’t be surprised if it sets a new production EV record at the Nürburgring.
