A fire at a Chevrolet dealership in Sterling Heights, Michigan has destroyed at least 30 vehicles and caused millions of dollars worth of damage.
Click On Detroit reports that the inferno started at approximately 7:30 pm on Tuesday in the service area when a machine being used by a janitor caught fire after making contact with a flammable material.
Before long, the blaze intensified and spread throughout the facility, including to a paint shop and an area with dozens of airbags.
Speaking at the scene, Sterling Heights Fire chief Chris Martin said: “We’re hearing a lot of explosions right now. We’re dealing with a lot of chemicals. There’s a paint shop with a lot of paint. There’s a storage of over 150 airbags that are explosive.”
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire and the showroom and used car lot were not damaged, allowing the dealer to open the following day.
