Toyota Gazoo Racing unveiled the updated version of its Supra GT4 EVO, introducing a series of improvements in the suspension, braking, and powertrain departments.

Since the original Supra GT4’s debut in July 2019, the automaker has sold more than 50 examples, which went on to secure over 100 podium finishes and 50 class wins in national and international GT4 championships. Using customer and driver feedback, Toyota Gazoo Racing engineers continued the development of the GR Supra GT4, to remain in top competitive form against rivals.

The improvements in the GR Supra GT4 EVO were focused on brakes, handling, and engine. The braking system has a new design and different settings for the ABS. The suspension got the latest KW adjustable racing dampers and an updated anti-roll bar for better handling at higher speeds. According to Toyota, the racecar is “easier to drive for ambitious amateur drivers whilst it also provides the precise performance demanded by professional racers”.

Last but not least, the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine is offering increased power output and an optimized torque curve while benefiting from a more effective motorsport-grade cooling system. The company didn’t announce specific figures for the power output which differs depending on the configuration, but the torque goes up to 660 Nm. The engine is using a Marelli ECU, breathing through an Akrapovic exhaust. As with its predecessor, power is transmitted to the rear axle through a modified ZF automatic with the help of a Drexler limited-slip differential and a GKN Motorsport driveshaft.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is already accepting orders for the updated racecar at a price of €186,000 ($184,861). Existing GR Supra GT4 owners will also be able to upgrade their racecars to EVO specification. The model will make its racing debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January 2023.
