Imagine getting your hands on a rolling shell of a Porsche 997 911 GT3 and going absolutely wild with it, adding a Subaru Impreza STI engine at the back, and a GT3R wide bodykit. This is exactly what Eneos and DevSpeed Motorsports did for this year’s SEMA show, creating the unique Porsche 911 GT3 STI.
The project was based on a crashed 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 bought in an auction by professional drifter and car builder Faruk Kugay. The stripped-out sportscar came without an engine, fuelling the imagination of the new owner. The chosen motor is a heavily modified EJ25 boxer sourced from a 2008 Subaru Impreza STI.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine was upgraded with a BorgWarner EFR 7064-C turbocharger, a Vibrant Vertical Flow intercooler, Brian Crower 280 camshafts, Deatschwerks fuel injectors, rails, and pumps, a fuel system by Nuke Performance, and a custom stainless steel exhaust.
As a result, the mill produces 542 PS (405 kW / 550 PS) which makes it a lot more powerful than the 409 hp (305 kW / 415 PS) of the stock 997 GT3’s naturally aspirated 3.6-liter six-cylinder unit, while being 170 lb (77 kg) lighter. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a Subaru STI six-speed manual assembled by Subiworks, using reverse-cut ring gear and bell housing from Subarugears.
Eneos thinks that the boxer configuration is what unites Porsche and Subaru “with incredible racing heritage both on the tarmac and in the forests”.
The chassis setup is designed for track use, with adjustable coilovers by BC racing, suspension components sourced by the Porsche 911 Cup racecar, and a motorsport-grade roll cage by CageKits. The stock GT3 brakes are retained with Hawk competition pads. The car comes fitted with a Nuke Performance Air Jack 90 Competition system which raises it for quick wheel changes.
The bodykit is sourced from a VAD Design GT3R and includes a pronounced splitter, wide vented fenders, carbon-fiber roof, taillights from the 997.2, and a new rear bumper leaving part of the wheels exposed. The rear wing is gone as with the engine cover. We can’t the ultra-wide 19-inch Rotiform 917 wheels shod in mixed Toyo Proxes R888R tires measuring 265/35 R19 at the front and 345/30 R19 at the back.
Finally, a Subaru WRC blue and yellow livery was created by Sean Smith Design with references to the Salzburg Porsche 917. Inside, the cabin remains spartan, with two Tillet B6 Screamer carbon fiber seats, racing harnesses, a digital instrument cluster, a custom steering wheel, and a simple dashboard cover with an anti-glare wrap.
Besides the head-turning Porsche 911 GT3 STI, Eneos’ stand at SEMA hosts a selection of interesting vehicles including the Tesla Model 3 Pikes Peak, a Z-Swapped Nissan Frontier Race Truck, and a tuned Datsun 521 Pickup.
