Kia’s Stinger GT is gearing up for a 500-unit production run under the ‘Atlantica’ moniker, as U.S. buyers will now benefit from a bunch of EU-inspired mods.
The limited edition Stinger comes with a unique paint, new wheels and a Nappa leather interior. Furthermore, there is exclusive numbered badging as well as new equipment features.
“We recognize Stinger is something special and wanted to commemorate the 2019 model year with a stand-out variant,” stated Kia’s VP of product planning, Orth Hedrick. “Out of the box, the Stinger is a tried-and-true sport sedan with much of its development taking place on Germany’s grueling Nürburgring race circuit.”
“The Atlantica edition introduces more European flare while distinguishing itself with exclusive badging and features not previously offered by Kia in the U.S. market.”
Based on the Stinger GT2 AWD, this new edition stands out thanks to its Deep Chroma Blue metallic paint, new 19-inch alloys that come straight from the European Stinger, and a large font for the Stinger badge across the rear deck lid – in fact, there’s no Kia badge on the rear.
Inside, Espresso Brown Nappa leather joins the black suede-type headliner to offer a premium touch, while the Surround View Monitor, wireless phone charger and heated rear outboard seats play their part in making the cabin stand out compared to that of the regular U.S. version.
Kia has yet to decide how much it will charge for the Stinger GT Atlantica, so we’ll have to wait until we get closer to its summer on-sale date to find out.
