The new Toyota Aygo X Air Edition is the latest addition to the smallest Toyota available in the UK, offering more stylish options, along with a standard canvas roof. The new Air Edition of the Aygo X will be available exclusively online, through Toyota UK’s website.
The retractable canvas roof is covering the entire length of the roof, for a more open-air driving feeling, adding another layer of enjoyment to the city car when the weather is nice.

The Toyota Aygo X Air Edition is available in four shades – Juniper Blue, Chilli Red, Ginger, Beige, and Cardamon Green. The 18-inch alloy wheels are finished in matt black and feature colorful spokes in Chilli Red or Ginger Beige, matching the lower body accents, including the front bumper and side sill inserts. Toyota also added colorful accents on the seats, door sills, steering wheel, shifter, and center console, contrasting with the black-themed upholstery.
The model is based on the mid-spec Edge trim rather than the flagship Exclusive. This means it comes standard with the 8-inch infotainment unit (instead of a 9-inch) featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, auto wipers, fog lights, a reversing camera, and front/rear parking sensors. The Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite is present in the entire lineup, with systems like the intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Trace Assist making life easier for the driver.
Note that Toyota already offered an Aygo X with a standard canvas roof – the Limited Edition – which has been discontinued from the UK lineup. The Air Edition acts as an indirect replacement for the latter, with slightly less equipment but more personalization options.
Like all trims of the Toyota Aygo X, the Air Edition comes fitted with the naturally aspirated 1.0-liter three-cylinder producing 71 hp (53 kW / 72 PS) and 93 Nm (68.6 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox, sending power to the front wheels.
Pricing starts from £19,045 ($21,395) for the manual and from £20,225 ($22,720) for the automatic, making it the most expensive Aygo X in the UK but slightly cheaper than the now-discontinued Limited Edition. For a good measure, the similarly-specced Aygo Edge starts from £17,355 ($19,497), which means that the canvas roof costs an extra £1,690 ($1,899).
