The Lamborghini Huracan is more of a rival to the likes of the Ferrari 488 GTB than the older 458 Spider, but how does it stack up against the latter? Coming to answer this question is a drag race organized earlier this year, during the 2017 Spring Event, which sees the two Italian exotics go head to head.
Apart from a few visual mods, the two supercars seem to be stock, which means that the Lamborghini Huracan has a clear advantage over the Ferrari 458 Spider, as it’s not only lighter, but more powerful too, courtesy of the 5.2-liter V10 engine that puts out 610 PS versus the Ferrari’s 570.
At the opposite end, Prancing Horse’s vehicle, which was transformed into the 488 GTB more than 2 years ago, uses a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, unlike the newer model, which has adopted the turbocharging technology. It needs less than 3.4 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph), and it will eventually max out at 320km/h (200mph).
So does the newer Huracan have what it takes to beat an older 458 Spider that comes with an obvious weight penalty? Find out in the video posted below.
