Lamborghini recorded the best nine months in its history with a €1.93 billion turnover year-to-date. The Sant’Agata company is actively preparing for its electrified future, but before the first plug-in hybrid arrives in 2023, there is one last pure-ICE model to be unveiled in December – the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.

Between January and September 2022, Lamborghini sold 7,430 vehicles (+8%), showing proportionate growth in all regions. The €1.93 billion ($1.93 billion) turnover is 30.1% higher compared to the same period last year, while the operating profit of €570 million ($569 million) is up 68.5%. According to the automaker, the profitability boost was achieved thanks to the increased average revenue per car, and the favorable exchange rates.

Predictably, the Lamborghini Urus remains the best-selling model of the brand with 4,834 deliveries between January and September 2022, ahead of the recent announcement of the updated Urus S and Urus Performante variants.

However, it was the Lamborghini Huracan that showed the greatest growth in sales with 2,738 deliveries in nine months (+11%), helped by the unveiling of the Huracan Tecnica. As for the Aventador flagship, the last example was delivered in September, marking the end of the pure V12 era for Lamborghini.

Following a series of teaser videos, the Sant Agata brand confirmed that the debut of the jacked-up Huracan Sterrato is scheduled for the end of the year at Art Basel in Miami on December 1st. This will be the last Lamborghini with a non-electrified engine, and the last version of the Huracan before the model bows out giving way to its electrified successor. By 2024, Lamborghini’s entire range will be available in plug-in hybrid form.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said: “We have an order portfolio that already covers the first quarter of 2024, and this allows us to work with peace of mind, looking thoughtfully ahead to the challenges facing us in the future, such as the first step towards hybridization from 2023.”
