As much as our eyes have been trained in seeing face-swapping renderings of cars, sometimes real life outperforms the digital world. This is the case with the pictured Mazda RX-7 FD featuring a face transplant from a Toyota Supra Mk4 which actually looks quite decent in a weird way.

The one-of-a-kind vehicle was built by Dylan Krucke. As we can see from his Instagram profile, the process took several months in order for the Supra face to match the RX-7 body. The result is surprisingly well executed – apart from the heavily stanced wheels that are not everyone’s cup of tea.

The model is fitted with genuine Supra headlights with a black background so they match the tinted taillights of the RX-7. The aftermarket bumper and the vented bonnet send Fast and Furious vibes, as does the orange exterior shade. Naturally, the front fenders are overlapping with the body, but they have been nicely integrated thanks to Dodge Viper-style inlets.

The RX-7 part of the car received side sill extensions, wide rear fenders, and a deeper rear bumper with dual exhaust pipes sticking out of it. Surprisingly there is no rear wing, which is a rare case in tuned Mazda RX-7 models. Finally, the car is slammed to the ground, riding on ultra-wide aftermarket wheels shod in stretched tries.

For an alien that has just landed on Earth, this Mazda Supra could make a legit case for a standalone car. For the rest of us, the combination of the Supra face with the body and proportions of the RX-7 is confusing to the brain. Still, most of the commenters on Instagram loved it. Some of them even proposed a Nissan GT-R RB26 engine swap to create the ultimate Japanese Frankenstein. However, the build currently retains the rotary engine of the original Mazda RX-7, rather than a Supra-sourced 2JZ.

The Mazda Supra will probably gather a lot of attention in car meets and on the roads. Imagine noticing a Supra on your rearview mirror and then being overtaken by an RX-7 – this would definitely make anyone do a double take.
