Alpine announced a further expansion to its future EV-only range after 2026, with the addition of two new models set to be positioned in the midsize and large segments, joining the already-confirmed trio of upcoming EVs.

The French company didn’t reveal the bodystyle type of the new models, but it is safe to assume that at least one of them will be an SUV. Both are expected to adopt the new design language that was recently introduced by the Alpine Alpenglow Concept. As with all future Alpine models, they will aim to combine luxury, tech, and sportiness, and to justify the premium positioning of the brand among the Renault Group.

Autocar reports that the new EVs will be based on a reworked version of the CMF-EV architecture that is already underpinning the Renault Megane E-Tech and the Nissan Ariya. This platform is compatible with dual electric motors, offering AWD capability and Alpine will potentially increase the combined power output close to Porsche Taycan-rivaling levels.

Alpine teamed up with Lotus for the development of the EV sportscar set to replace the A110. This makes us wonder if the larger Alpine duo will be related in any way to future Lotus offerings. The same report adds that there is a connection between the upcoming Alpine flagships and the Lotus Type 133 midsize sedan / Lotus Eletre large SUV, although those are based on Geely-sourced underpinnings.

The yet unnamed EVs will follow the debut of the A5 hot hatch, the GT-X Over high-riding grand tourer, and the electric replacement of the A110 sportscar, allowing Alpine to compete in new segments with a wide range of so-called “Dream Garage Models”. Larger vehicles tend to be more popular in markets outside Europe – including North America and China – which is where Alpine hopes to gather 15% of its sales by 2030.
