Polish drifter Bartosz Ostalowski has set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest vehicle drift ever recorded in a foot-driven car at a mind-bending 231.66 km/h (143.9 mph).
Some CarScoops readers may be familiar with Bartosz Ostalowski. We first wrote about him in 2012 when he was drifting a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T solely with his feet having lost both of his arms in a 2006 accident. He currently competes in the Polish Drift Championship and various other series’ in Europe and for his latest stunt, attempted to push the boundaries of what most people would think is possible.

Sitting behind the wheel of his specially-equipped BMW 3-Series drift car, Ostalowski took to a runway at Pila Airport and pinned the throttle. He quickly accelerated up to 277 km/h (172 mph) before applying the handbrake with one of his feet, initiating a high-speed drift through a 50-meter measuring zone. He recorded an average speed of 231.66 km/h (143.9 mph) at a maximum angle of 60 degrees, not only setting a world record for the fastest drift recorded in a foot-driven car but also smashing the Polish record for fastest drift, previously held by Jakub Przygoński at 217.97 km/h (135.4 mph).
“I am incredibly happy that I achieved the goal I set for myself!” Ostalowski said after setting the record. “At this speed you feel every unevenness, everything happens extremely fast. This is an experience that is hard to compare to anything else. I am proud, because once again I proved that in each of us there is a huge potential, thanks to which we can achieve success!”
Ostalowski’s BMW E92-generation 3-Series is powered by a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter LS3 V8 engine pumping out 1,000 hp and 944 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque. This engine works alongside a ZF 8HP90 automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels.
